What is hydraulic oil?

Hydraulic oils or Hydraulic fluids are fluids that are non-compressible that are used in all kinds of hydraulic machinery or equipment including cranes, diggers, drill floor power units and hydraulic ring mains. They can by synthetic or mineral based and are used in the transfer of power but can also be used as a sealant, coolant or lubricant in machinery or equipment.

The difference between synthetic and mineral based oils?

Most oils or fluids are produced as either mineral based or synthetic. Simply put Synthetic is produced in a lab and contains additives that help to prevent wear, increase the life span of the oil and allow the oil or fluid to work under heavy loads or in extreme conditions. Mineral oils, on the other hand, are derived from crude oil and may still contain additives but will not be as resilient as a synthetic oil.
